Nirvana Academy organises Pandit Uma Dutt Sangeet Mahootsav Day 1

Jammu, 17 December 2013: Nirvana Academy inaugurated 6th season of Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma Sangeet Mahootsav at Auditorium, Government Polytechnic College, Bikram Chowk Jammu here today.
On the occasion rich tributes were paid to Late Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma great musician of his time (April 1900-1973), also father and guru of Santoor maestro Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Day one of the festival started with the musical performance of Mythya band who enthralled the audience with their fusion music followed by the musical competition in folk, regional, light singing as well as instrumental categories. During the competition 62 participants from different areas of Jammu region took part and expressed their talent. Krishan Lal Verma, Tabla Maestro and disciple of Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma, Puran Singh Wazir noted musician and Gautam Kotwal of Mythya band adjudged the contest.
Meenakshi Sharma, General Secretary Nirvana Academy threw light on the life and achievements of Pandit Uma dutt Sharma. Pandit Uma dutt was born in April 1900. Pandit ji received his training in tabla and pakhawaj from his Guru Sardar Harnam Singh. Pandit ji spent 10 years under the guidance of Pt. Bade Ram Das ji at Banaras and when his Guru was satisfied with pandit ji's attainments pandit ji returned to his home town Jammu.
On his return, Pandit ji started to impart training to students and music lovers in both vocal and instrumental music. He was a very patient teacher who introduces his students to final shades of music. Quite a few of his well known students, practice music even to this day. Pandit ji was one of the few artists from Jammu, who used to give performances in vocal music from Lahore Music station. Pandit ji appointed as music supervisor in Radio Kashmir Jammu, during which period he arranged the visit of number of well known Musicians of other part of the country.
He was transferred to Radio Kashmir Srinigar. Where he was introduced to Santoor. Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma gave the responsibility of taking the Santoor on the world stage to his son Shiv kumar after extensive research on its possibilities.
Today, Shivkumar Sharma and the Santoor are synonymous. Shivkumar Sharma has truly been successful in giving the Santoor the position of a popular classical instrument. Shivkumar Sharma modified the folk instrument in order to make it more suitable for classical music.
Nirvana Academy – A Cultural Club organized Pt. Uma Dutt Sharma Sangeet Mahootsav every year to provide platform to budding artist, to preserve and to promote forms of Indian folk and classical music. This year Nirvana Academy is organizing 3 days festival in Pt. Uma dutt Sangeet Mahootsav which includes musical contest as well as performances of legendary folk and classical artists. This year Nirvana Academy also organizes an interaction programme of students and musicians with santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma.

Nirvana Academy and Disabled Care foundation marked International day of people with disabilities

Jammu, 03 December: International Day of person with Disabilities was today celebrated at Auditorium Women College Gandhi Nagar Jammu by organising series of events on the day on United Nations Theme2013“Break Barriers, Open Doors: to realize an inclusive Society for all.“
The Event was organised jointly by Nirvana academy A regd. Cultural Club & Disabled Care Foundation in collaboration with NSS Unit of Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar and was supported by the Bharti Infratel, Little millennium Play way school & mindscapes Education & Environmental Trust.
The programme was chaired by Shantumanu Sinha, IAS Divisional commissioner Jammu, Dr. Kiran Bakshi Principal GCW, Gandhi nagar along with Sohail Kazami Senior Journalist & Mrs Akhila Sharma Educationist & Social entrepreneur.
The event was inaugurated with lighting of lamp followed by welcome address by Dr Kiran Bakshi principal of the college who highlighted the importance of the day.
A colourful multitalented programmes on cultural Bonanza was presented by the disabled students of various schools along with Mohd. Farooq from Poonch a young talented singer enthralled the audience and lauded by all.
The series of the events was divided into two parts. In first session an inter college symposium was organised on the topic Social/Media Responsibilities, Legal Remedies & Political will “ in Bringing National Trust Act 1999 in Jammu & Kashmir” The aim of organising symposium was to make people of the state aware about Importance of the National Trust act 1999 (for Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities) which is not implemented in the state of Jammu & Kashmir even after passing of 14 years. Prof. Neelu Gupta HOD Department History, Sohail Kazmi Senior Journalist, Ashutosh Bajaj Business Head Bharti Infratel and Akhila Sharma an Educationatist were in the jury member. Sanam Khan of GCW Gandhi nagar bagged first prize in symposium competition while Neha Rana of GCW Gandhi nagar won 2nd prize and Waheed Anjum Qureshi of MAM College got 3rd prize in symposium competition.
Umesh Sharma chairperson Disabled Care foundation while speaking on the occasion stressed upon the bringing on NTA 1999 as early as possible highlighting the various benefits and importance of such Act for such special children. prominent among others who spoke on the occasion include Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana academy, Ashutosh from Bharti Infratel, Mrs Akhila Magotra, Inderjeet Khajuria Chairman J & K Kalyan Samaj Kendra.
In the afternoon session A fund raising ghazal Concert “ Diva Bale Sari Raat “ A Tribute to Jagjit Singh  was organised in aid of J& K Samaj Kalyan Kendra ((A Higher Secondary School for Impaired handicapped) DAD Donate a desk. The tribute was paid by Darmesh Nargotra the noted Ghazal singer of national eminence. Vikas Naagar on lead guitar, Joginder on tabla, Chetan on Violin, Shiva on dholak and Arush on guitar accompanied the ghazal maestro Dharmesh Nargotra. Hundreds of students, member of civil society, facility members and people from all walks of society witnessed this mega tribute leaving them spellbound. Programme was Coordinated by Prof. Shrutika Rajput and M Ashq Malik NSS programme officer. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Ashq Malik of GCW, Gandhi nagar on the occasion. Sherish Javed and Ashwinder Kour anchored the programme.
   
The 3rd December is International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD), a dedicated day to place a greater emphasis on the abilities and achievements of people living with disability. This year we celebrate the 21stanniversary of International Day of Persons with disability. The overarching UN theme for IDPwD in 2013 is: Break barriers and open doors: to realise an inclusive society for all.

Singing and Dance talent show “Jalwa 2013” organised at Police Auditorium Jammu

Jammu, October 27: Pammy Art Academy and Manav Uthaan (NGO) in association with Nirvana Academy organized singing, dance and fancy dress talent show “Jalwa 2013” A Cultural Bonanza at Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground Jammu, here today. Sh. Rameshwar Singh Jamwal President, Criminologist Society of India was the chief guest on the occasion while Smt. Seema Mahajan President Manav Uthaan NGO was the guest of honour on the occasion.

The function started with fancy dress round in which little kids from different schools like Kidzee, Little Champs and Muni Kamal School displayed their dresses in front of the audience followed by the Marvelous dance performances by the children of all ages in solo, duet and group dance category. Jalwa 2013 was conceived, directed and choreographed by ParamJeet Kour a well known choreographer of the state and director of the programme.. Programme was adjudged by the Guest Judge Seema Mahajan, Shashi Gupta a veteran dance choreographer and Dharmesh Nargotra national acclaimed singer, who came to encourage the participants of the competition.
More than 80 finalists from different part of Jammu region took part in the programme and showed their skills in different art forms. Dance Performances were choreographed by young and energetic Choreographers of modern dance era like Sunil Sharma of Unique Dancing Institute, Vikas of Pulse Dance Institute, Deepak of Rock on, Raj from Acharya dancing institute and Nitin from Auspicious Dance institute. The main motive to organize Jalwa 2013 was to explore hidden talent in the youth and children of the State so that they can be able to compete with the other talented youth of the country.
ParamJeet Kour told on the occasion that Pammy Art Academy, Manav Uthaan NGO and Nirvana Academy Cultural Club had organized various such programmes earlier also and succeeded in bringing all such type of talented artist under one umbrella. She thanked all the participants, their instructors, Judges, Chief Guest and other Dignitaries who made the event such a success and she promised that with the help of all Club Shall continue working for such wonderful cause. Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy presented vote of thanks. Rahul and Irfaan anchored the programme. Others who were presented on the occasion were Meenakshi Sharma (General Secretary NA), Neeraj Sharma (Vice President NA), Nishant Vaid (Secretary PR and Publicity NA), Anuradha, Prince, Anmol Amla and Kuldeep Kumar.

First Audition Test held for Mr. J&K 2013

Jammu, October 26: Jammu Dreamz in association with Nirvana Academy today organized first Audition test for Mr. J&K 2013 at Pammy Art Academy, Sanjay Nagar Jammu. Miss Priyanka Nagotra, Sharik Ikhlaq, Miss Neetu and Miss Farhana Naaz adjudged the participants. Audition Rounds were choreographed by Mr. Prince. Programme was conducted in senior and junior category respectively. 25 participants from Jammu as well as Kashmir region including kids and youth took part in the audition test. Programme started with the introduction round in which most of the participants gave their introduction in their regional languages.

Prince Nagotra, Director of the show expressed on the occasion that Jammu Dreamz shall definitely provide platform to the selected participants and Jammu Dreamz shall organized these kind of events that we can aware the youth and children of J&K with their regional languages, culture, traditions and heritage. Sub tittles will also distributed to the participants like Mr. Jammu, Mr. Kashmir, Mr. Chenab Valley, Mr. Cute, Best Costume, Face of the year, Best Physique, Best Hairstyle, Best Smile, Mr. Photogenic and Best Walk in the final event, he added.

Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy told on the occasion that the club shall provide workshop to the final participants of the programme to educate and aware the youth and children about the culture, languages and traditions of J&K state. “Question Answer round shall introduce in the final event in which questions regarding Heritage, Culture, traditions, languages and History of Jammu and Kashmir shall be asked to the participants”, he said.

Nirvana Academy organised Prize distribution Function for hearing handicapped at J& K Samaj kalyan Kendra Jammu

Jammu, Oct. 24: Today on United Nations day, the hearing /Speech impaired students were distributed the prizes for painting competition in connection with the Celebration of International week for deaf with the theme “Equality for deaf” byShantmanu Sinha (Chief Guest)Divisional Commissioner Jammu in a simple and impressive function held at J& K Samaj Kalyan Kendra Secondary School Shahidi Chowk Jammu.

He was welcomed by the Children of the school along with the management of the Kendra.

The event was jointly organized by Nirvana academy Regd. Club, Disabled Care Foundation, Voice for Rights, Mindscape Educational and Environmental trust in collaboration with J& K Samaj Kalyan Kendra Secondary School Shahidi Chowk Jammu and was supported by Bharti Infratel Team Jammu.

The sapling of the Lakshmi Taru ( Simarous a glauca Scientific name) was also planted by chief Guest on the occasion. The significance of this tree is that it consumes highest amount of carbon dioxide and purify the environment and can help in reducing the heat.

As many as 81 students participated in the said competition under three different categories. The competition was adjudged by Sh. Bhushan Kesar a well renowned painter of the soil.

Under Category I among students from I –V class, Miss Sabhia secured first individual prize while Miss Sofia & Mr Ritesh Singh Bagged 2nd & 3rd prize respectively.

Under category from VI – VII , Miss Piya  secured first  prize while Miss Shikha  & Mr Pankaj Lakotra Bagged 2nd & 3rd prize respectively. Similarly under category from IX – XII, Miss Vishali Raina secured first  prize while Miss Raheela  & Sudha Verma Bagged 2nd & 3rd prize respectively.

The certificate of the participation was also distributed among the entire participant who participate in
painting and cultural activities on the day. Sh Bushan Kesar and Miss Paramjeet Kour were also honored on the occasion with token of gratitude.

Inderjeet Khajuria President of the J& K Kalyan Kendra while interacting on the occasion appraised authority about the functioning of the institution apart from the problems being faced by the them while running this non aided Ngo for welfare of these students.

Shantu Manu while interacting with the students with the help of sign language teacher assured of the all possible help to these divine souls of the gods who are doing so well inspite of constrains & hardships faced by them. He was highly impressed with immense talent & creativity of these children as shown by them in their paintings. He also urged upon to give such children more such opportunity so that their talents can be recognized in other fields.

 The prominent who were present on the occasion includes J K Vaid General secretary,K S Jamwal, Roshan Bhan Principal of the school, Ravi Puri, Umesh Sharma, Neeraj Sharma, Nishant Vaid  and parents of the childrens along with Mr. Ashutosh Bajaj, Gunjan Gughani, Varun Sharma and Abhay mani all from the Bharti Infratel team Jammu.

Ghazal saint Jagjit Singh remembered on his 2nd death anniversary


Jammu, Oct. 10: As a part of remembrance and to pay enrich tribute on 2nd  death anniversary, Nirvana Academy – A Cultural Club and Jagjit Fans club (A volunteer initiative) organized    “ Jagjit’s Voice of Jammu 2013” a Ghazal Talent Hunt based on the Ghazals, songs & bhajans sung by Jagjit Singh at K L Saigal Hall, Jammu  this evening. Programme also marked awareness campaign among the people to pledge a support in bringing up the National trust Act 1999 Jammu & Kashmir for Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities.
The event was an initiative to carry forward his legacy & keep his work alive among the today’s youth under the guidance of Hemu Karki chairperson Jagjit Fans Club along with Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy and Ashutosh Dubey members of the club.
As many as 40 participants from different schools, colleges and music institutes took part in the talent hunt, sung Jagjit’s famous heart rendering numbers featuring Jhuki Jhuki si nazar, Pyar Ka phela Khat, Chitthi na koi Sandesh, Tum itna jo muskura rehe ho etc.
The competition was adjudged by the panel of experts in the field of ghazals including Dharmesh Nargotra, Ghazal Singer of national repute and Tabla Maestro Krishan Lal Verma. It was the first time that any ghazal talent hunt has been organized in the memory of Ghazal Samrat.

Singh was very fond of children and always promoted new artistes .He wanted to provide opportunities to the not-so-privileged ones, to create a school-like structure where financial assistance would be given to children to pursue studies in any kind of art forms. So we at Nirvana Academy and Jagjit Fans Club have decided to continue what he started and make his dream come true and our First Ghazal talent Hunt is one such effort to provide a platform to explore and encourage talent.

Apart Jagjit‘s Voice of Jammu 2013” is making an awareness campaign to pledge a support of common masses for implementation of NTA1999 in J & K. Unfortunately this act is applicable in whole of India except in the state of J& K. Umesh Sharma Chairperson Disabled Care Foundation also spoke on the occasion telling about the importance of the act for the welfare of the specially abled children, He requested people of the society to come forward to support in bringing this act a reality in Jammu & Kashmir.

Prominent among other present on occasion include Sh. Ram Paul Sharma Social worker Channi Himmat, Madam Satya Bhama, Meenakshi Sharma, Nishant Vaid, Sumit Sharma Cultural Head and Prince Nagotra. Neha Varma anchored the programme.
The event was supported by Disabled care foundation, Voice For Rights(VR) and Mindscape Environmental and Educational trust .

10 days Children music workshop concluded




Jammu, Oct. 08: Nirvana Academy a regd. Cultural club organised 10 days children workshop on Music which began on 29th September concluded here today in Aarohi Kala Sangeet Vidhalaya, Gandhi nagar, Jammu. Sh. Dharmesh Nargotra a noted singer and musician was the chief guest on the occasion while the closing ceremony was presided by Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy, Jammu.



Meenakshi Sharma General Secretary Nirvana Academy told on the occasion that the 10 day workshop aimed to provide a happy and engaging experience to children by teaching them to sing various types of folk songs, dogri songs, ghazals, solo and group songs. She also thanked the Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Jammu for their kind cooperation and financial assistance to organise children music workshop. “Nirvana Academy will organise a musical programme and ghazal competition for these children on the death anniversary of ghazal maestro Jagjit singh in K.L Saigal hall on 10th of October 2013”, she added.


Kuldeep Kumar Chief Instructor of Aarohi Kala Sangeet Vidhalaya in his closing address stressed that children's life and activities at school must be linked to their life outside the school. To ensure this workshop are conducted so that children can generate new knowledge and surface hidden potentialities.


Chief Guest Sh. Dharmesh Nargotra congratulated the students and
commended the dedication and efforts of the teachers in making the workshop successful. Such workshop bridges the gap between school, home and community and explore the hidden talent of the children and provide them an opportunity to refresh themselves.

Talaash – e - Hunnar organised


Jammu, October 01: Ram Imagine Art, Nirvana Academy a Cultural Club, EHA Mobile World,Samsung smart cafe, NIFD (National Institute of Fashion Design) and Style
BHAI Media Management (Promoters of Singer/Actors/Designers) jointly Organised the Finale for the talent hunt “TALAASH-E-HUNNAR” Season – 2 at Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground, Jammu to promote our customs and singing talent, to provide exposure of such high level to the youngsters in the field of entertainment.
100 of participants enthusiastically came for the auditions to showcase their talent and best 12 were selected for the final round. Sh. Madan Lal Sharma Member Parliament was the chief guest on the occasion while Tanya Gupta noted singer, Sh. Hitesh Badyal founder and President Nirvana Academy,Sh. Dinkar Kalotraa Chairman NIFD, Mrs Vanita Thakur Director NIFD, Sh.Kanav Suri from EHA Mobile Samung Smart Cafe were the guest of honour on the occasion.
Mr. Ram Kumar (President of Ram Imagine Arts) Informed that he is obliged to see such overwhelming response for the participants. It was great to see such a level of talent in our city but due to lack of opportunities and genuine platform people is not being able to convert their talent into profession or even passion. Our aim is to provide
platform to them.
A minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the martyrs of Hiranagar and Samba incident. Programme started with the Solo Singing round followed by Dress display round in ethnic, casuals and fusion. Sh. Suresh Chauhan noted singer, Shivani Tak music composer and writer and Nikhil Sharma model Choreographer were the judges on the occasion. Guest dance performances were also presented on the occasion.
This Programme is being organized with an aim to channelize the energy of the youth to utilize it nationally and globely. Through this competition organizer are trying to promote Heritage and Plural cultural of the state. Participants of the final round were Rohit Kumar, Navjot Singh, Ankush kumar, Aakash Mehra, Jaanu Katoch, Apporva Jamwal, Devinder Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Lakshya Mahajan, Sanjay Singh Manhas and Pranva. SY Step up and Nirvana Academy organised Talent Search Programme


Jammu, Sep. 29: Today SY Step up Dance Institute and Nirvana Academy, a cultural Club conducted first round of talent search programme 'Dance Addiction Season 4', an open challenge dance competition for young budding dancers of Jammu and Kashmir.


Inviting participants from schools, colleges and dance institutes across J&K, SY Step Up Chairman Yogeshwar Singh Yogi said, "Students can choreograph their performances to folk as well as Bollywood songs. Dance Addiction is an annual event, and we usually receive overwhelming participation."

The troupe that bags the first place will receive a award and gift hampers, followed by runners-up award. All participants will receive certificates of participation. The competition will be held in the month of October. 30 participating Solo, group as well as duet groups will be permitted in the competition on first-come-first-serve basis, said Sanjeev on the occasion.
Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy congratulated all the participants and assured them that Nirvana Academy will provide platform to the participating candidates of Dance Addiction Season 4. He also announced a dogri folk dance workshop for the selected candidates. Others presented on the occasion were Atul Manhas, Kashish, Sanjay kumar, Manish and Piyush Manhas. 
15 participants qualify for 2nd round were Abhishek, Harsh, Siddarth, Smile, Ishwar, Sahil, Monika, Shivali, Kiran, Nansi, Mansi, Naman, Deepika, Muskan, Shrishti Kundal and Kunal Banal.

“Equality for Deaf People” International deaf weak Celebrated


Jammu, Sep. 23: As a part of International Deaf weak 2013, Nirvana Academy A Regd. Cultural Club, Disabled care Foundation, Voice For Rights and Mindscape Educational & Environmental trust collaborated with J &K Samaj kalyan Kendra Jammu to Celebrate world deaf day in the premises of the school with the theme “Equality for Deaf People”.
The event marked the beginning with the painting competition by
the school children. As many as 40 children participated in the competition crafting their creativity on the canvas in a colourful and expressive manner. Sh Bushan Kesar an eminent painter of national repute adjudged the painting competition.
The painting competition was followed by the Cultural programme presented by the deaf,dumb children who were specially trained and choreographed by Ms Paramjeet Kour Pammy of Nirvana Academy. Kids presented the enrich cultural heritage of the state in the songs featuring Thare Thuda paeyaa, Tunde Jammua de and Shiv Tandav by Vikash.

The multicultural heart rendering  presentation took guests, parents, and eminent people from various social organization present on the occasion by surprise.  The kids made them spellbound with their immense talent & presentation. It was a joyous moment for  all theses present on the occasion.
It is mention that The International Week of the Deaf (IWD) is
observed annually during the last full week of September. The purpose of IWD is to draw the attention of politicians, authorities and the general public to the achievements of Deaf people and the concerns of the Deaf community. They are encouraged to carry out information campaigns about their work, and to publicise their demands and requests. This week also increases solidarity among Deaf people and their supporters, and is used as a time to stimulate greater efforts to promote the rights of Deaf people throughout the world.
Sammer Bharti IFS was the chief Guest on the occasion, entrust upon to encourage these children for participation in more such events.
