Nirvana Academy Celebrated "World Earth Day"
22-04-2013, JAMMU: In an attempt to save mother earth, and with the idea to promote awareness and education to save our planet from various man made evils like pollution, global warming, deforestation and more, “ Nirvana Academy A Regd. Cultural club in association with Mind Scapes Educational & Environmental Trust Today Launched “The Face of Climate Change” whichaims to inspire awareness and appreciation for earth's environment .The campaign will feature a neighborhood clean-up, speakers, educational workshops, and an environmentally-themed school song competition on the eve of Earth Day 2013.
The program me was launched in the presence of personalities from The Music field, social service & young budding music learners at Pammy Art Academy, Sanjay nagar Jammu
Speaking on the occasion “Face of Climate Change” Meenakshi Sharma General Secretary NA made participants to know about the effect of climate change & ways to migrate it highlighting green issues to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
While speaking on occasion Ashtosh Dubey Volunteer for Better India remembered Senator Gaylord Nelson, Founder who on April 22, 1970 first organized the day to promote ecology and respect for life on the planet as well as to encourage awareness of the growing problems of air, water and soil pollution. It was in the same year Jimi Hendrix died, the Beatles produced their last album and Simon & Garfunkel released “Bridge Over Troubled Water” that Earth Day emerged as one of the world’s first environmental campaigns.
We are indebted to our forefathers to have provided us with this planet and it is our responsibility to preserve it. The Youth of the city is a perfect choice for these campaigns as they are the future leaders. It is more of symbolic event to spread a message. With such initiatives, we are looking at creating a mass awareness to make Jammu a city with difference " said Hitesh Badyal while speaking on the occasion. He said Academy come up with educational and entertainment based activities in order to remind us that we can co-exist in an eco-friendly environment”
Celebrating the Earth Day, all the participants, participated in a signature campaign organized on the Occasion by the academy under Title ““The Face of Climate Change” All participants took a pledge act boldly together, as we have, make people of the city awared on this on this critical issue.”
Mind Scapes Educational & Environmental Trust, A local organization distributed free tree saplings to among the participants. Rajesh Gupta Secretary of the trust while sharing his views said that Planting trees in the most common way people support the day. He said it’s our social responsibility to save our environment. Keep clean & green for our future.

President Nirvana Academy Mr. Hitesh Badyal inaugurated SY Step Up Dance and Aerobics Institute at Bari Brahmana, Jammu, J&K
Yogeshwar Singh Yogi’s “SY Step Up Dance and Aerobics
Institute inaugurated a new branch at Bari Brahmana here today. Sh. Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy
was the chief guest on the occasion. Badyal inaugurated the dance institute and
also congratulated all the members of the SY Dance Institute. Mr. Kashish Thakyal
Choreographer of the institute told on the occasion that this institute will
provide dance training and stage exposure to the budding talent of the rural
and out skirts areas of Jammu .
SY Step Up provides training in Hip Hop, Lyrical Hip Hop,
Salsa, Contemporary and Break dance, he added. He further added that this
institute will also provide platform to the students of this institute under
the guidance of Yogeshwasr Singh Yogi. Some of the students of SY Step up dance
institute also qualified for upcoming reality show of Jammu Doordarshan “Aawoo
Pehchan Banayein”.

Pt. Uma Dutt Sharma remembered on his 113th birth anniversary
14-04-2013:: Nirvana Academy a regd. Cultural club organised a classical fusion recital to mark Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma’s 113th birthday at “Music Culture” performing art institute, Indra Vihar, old Janipur, Jammu. Sh. Krishan Lal Verma, Retd. H.O.D Fine Arts College was the chief guest on the occasion. Sumit Sharma a noted musician of Jammu presented a classical fusion recital on electric “Zitar”, which was invented by Pandit Niladeri Kumar. Programme commenced with the speech of Chief guest Sh. K.L Verma who was also disciple of Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma. He threw the light on the life and achievements of Pandit Uma Dutt. Pandit ji was one of the few artists from Jammu, who used to give performances in vocal music from Lahore Music station. Pandit ji appointed as music supervisor in Radio Kashmir Jammu. It was Pandit ji’s stay in Kashmir when he got himself completely involved in the santoor, and mastered the finest techniques is devotion and sincerity, to his new assignment, Pandit ji created new place for santoor which often was played only as an ‘accompany i.e background’ in sufi style of singing and made it an attraction for many from ardent followers of Indian classical music. Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma later transformed the same i.e combination of rich knowledge, perfect skill and spontaneous creativity of the instrument to his son Shiv Kumar Sharma who now is mesmerising the audience all across the world through his magical touch on the strings. Sumit Sharma started with a composition based on Raag Bhairavi followed by fusion performance based on Raag Yaman. Sumit Sharma “disciple of Sh. Ravi Sharma a renowned composer of the state” is the first musician of the state who is performing on Zitar. Zitar is a modified version of classical instrument Sitar which was invented by Pandit Niladeri Kumar. In Zitar the p[laying patterns are very much different then to Sitar. Although it may look like Sitar. Sumit Sharma B.A in Sitar has completed his graduation from prayag Sangeet Samiti Allahabad. Sumit started his career in music at the age of 16 as he belonging to the reputed gharana of Dr. J.R Sharma from Jammu. He is also expertise in Sitar, Guitar and Keyboards. Amit Sharma accompanied on harmonium and Karan Malhotra on Tabla. Others who were presented on the occasion were Meenakshi Sharma General Secretary NA, Nishant Vaid Secretary Publicity NA, Rohit Sharma, Prince Nagotra, Neha Varma and Param Jeet Kour.

13-04-2013:: A charitable musical eve on female foeticide was organised at City Square Mall in which students of Heritage Strings – School of Rock along with Rock Star Anmol Amla performed. Roma Wani Honorary Secretary for Indian Red Cross ...Society was the Chief Guest, Mrs Ekta Takchandani, Social Worker from Panama & Mrs Rashim Anand, Director Education Express were the Guests of honor on the occasion. Kunal Anand famous motivator in Jammu presented the welcome note. Nirvana Academy A Regd. Cultural Club of Jammu managed the event and supported the awareness program on female foeticide. Nirvana Academy pays floral tribute to K.L Saigal on 109th birth anniversary
Nirvana Academy A Regd. Cultural Club organized a cultural musical programme at Aarohi Kala Sangeet Vidhalaya Rehari Jammu to pay rich tributes to first Indian film superstar and singer Kundan Lal Saigal on his 109th birth anniversary. Kumari Tandeep Kour a noted musician and social worker was the chief guest on the occasion. Chief guest Tandeep Kour, Hitesh Badyal President NA along with other prominent persons and students of Aarohi Kala Sangeet vidhalaya paid floral tributes to their ideal singer and first Indian film superstar K.L Saigal.
In the musical programme budding artists and students of Aarohi kala sangeet vidhalaya sung bhajans and dedicated their performances to K.L Saigal. Kuldeep Kumar a veteran singer presented popular K.L Saigal numbers like “ Jab dil hi toot gya”, Gham diye mustakil,” which were highly appreciated by the audience.
Sh. Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy highlighted the achievements and threw light on the life of K.L Saigal. Saigal was born at Jammu on 11 April 1904. Saigal’s song in the film ‘Balam aaye baso moray man mein’ and ‘Dukh kea b din beetat naahi’ became popular through out the country.
“In a career of fifteen years Saigal rendered 185 songs which included 142 filmi songs and 43 non filmi songs”, Badyal added.
“Saigal’s distinctive singing voice was idolized by the first generation of post independence Hindi play back singers including Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd. Rafi, Mukesh and Kishore Kumar”, Tandeep Kour said.
Those who were presented on the occasion included Neeraj Sharma, Vice President NA, Meenakshi Sharma General Secretary NA, Ashutosh Dubey, Nishant Vaid, Neha Varma, Param Jeet Kour, Prince Nagotra, Atri, Tanya, Amit Kumar and Shaveta Sharma.

Nirvana Academy and Disabled Care Foundation launched Signature Campaign on World Autism Awareness Day
02-04-2013: Implement ‘National Trust Act 1999’ Signature campaign kicks off on 6th World Autism Awareness Day. A signature campaign urging the J & K Government to implement the National Trust Act 1999 was launched today on 6th World Autism Awareness Day in Jammu. A helpline desk was also launched on the occasion for the people to know more about the campaign on the occasion. The campaign, launched by Disabled Care Foundation, in association with Nirvana Academy A Regd. Cultural club.
Umesh Sharma Chairman of the foundation speaking on the occasion said that the said campaign is launched with the aim to get the signatures of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disability & their parents all across the state to raise the unheard voice of for the implementation of National Trust Act 1999. We want the government to implement said act so that People suffering from autism should get job reservations, vocational training & other financial benefits.
The foundation would campaign across the State and then present the representation of these specially abled children to the Hon’ble Governor, Hon’ble Chief Minister & all the elected representatives of the state ( MLAs) & MLCs after they collect signatures in support urging upon them to come forward to support the humanitarian cause which is being ignored on one pretext or other till today.
Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy while speaking on the occasion said that it is a matter of immense pleasure for him & his organization to be part of such historic campaign expressed his gratitude & support for making the awareness about this neglected issues in all their upcoming events.
Ashutosh Dubey volunteer working for the cause highlighted tat Parents of autistic children and activists working for the welfare of those suffering from autism have been urging the state government for implementation of such an important act by bringing out legislation in the assembly so that problems faced by the affected can be addressed with the implementation of various schemes under said act in the state..
It is out of context to mention that National trust act 1999 is applicable in all over the country except in J& K. Ironically, this important legislation has not been made applicable & remained relatively neglected and ignored by the government of Jammu & Kashmir as part of state-level disability policies till date.
The National Trust is a statutory body under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, set up under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for the welfare of persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities” Act (Act 44 of 1999).It was set up in the year 2000 & dedicated to the creation of a nation-wide movement, which will lead to affirmative action for the protection, care, and inclusion of persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities within or close to their own communities. Social, Financial, emotional and physical security of a comprehensive nature is the ultimate goal of the National Trust.
The National Trust is the Government’s response to the needs of persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities. The Government is increasingly concerned about the needs for more affirmative action in favour of these persons. The Trust aims to reach not only disabled persons but also to their families by providing a comprehensive range of benefits, training and services.
