Blood Donation Camp organised to mark Martyrs day

Jammu, 22 March: Federation for Indian Blood donor's organisation (FIBDO), Nirvana Academy and U4U voice today organised one blood donation camp on eve of Martyrs day which is symbol of supreme sacrifice given by Shaheed Bhagat Singh , Rajguru & Sukhdev. This day is also observed as "Indian Blood donor's day".

The camp was inaugurated by Sh. Satish Sharma (President, Youth Congress) in the presence of Dr. Dara Singh (MS), Dr. Meena Sidhu (Incharge, Blood bank), Vikrant Dogra (Vice President, FIBDO), Hitesh Badyal (President, Nirvana academy) and Amit sudan (U4UVoice). Satish Sharma said 23 March 1931 was the day when Bhagat Singh gave supreme sacrifice of his life for freedom struggle of India and died at tender age of 24 years. He is symbol of patriotism and sacrifice which is one pure sentiment which is very essential of "Motivation" among the Volunteer Blood donors in the length and breadth of our country.


Vikrant Dogra (Vice President, FIBDO) informed that more than 20 unit of blood was donated by youth in this camp. He thanked Satish Sharma, Vikas sehgal, Hitesh Badyal, Amit sudan , Rakesh Kumar, Rohit Bhat and others for special contributions. Hitesh Badyal (President, Nirvana Academy) gave vote of thanks.

Young women Achievers of Jammu (2014) call on Div Com




JAMMU, MARCH 12- Some of the young women achievers who were recognized and declared so on the Women’s Day on 8th of March 2014 by the Nirvana Academy Jammu and Federation of Indian Blood Donors Organization called on the Divisional Commissioner Jammu on the 11th March 2014 at his office at Rail Head Complex Jammu. The Women Achievers who called on the Divisional Commissioner were Maansi Gupta, Advocate Deepka Singh, Neeru Dhalla, Juhie Mohan, Akhila Magotra and Rachna Sharma. The said young Achievers were accompanied by Smt. Arunima Sinha, General Manager (Training) Art of Living Foundation, Jammu who supported the initiative of Nirvana Academy and Federation of Indian Blood Donors Organization and members of the said organization including Shri Hitesh Badyal, Shri Ashutosh and Shri Vikrant Dogra. The Divisional Commissioner congratulated the Women Achievers and advised them to contribute to and give back to society by way of social work. The Divisional Commissioner also appreciated the role of Nirvana Academy Jammu. Federation of Indian Blood Donors organization, Myhtya Band and the Art of Living Foundation who support such initiatives

Nirvana Academy Organises Book Launch and Screening of Anterdwani at a Glittering Ceremony in the presence of Santoor Maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma

Jammu, 19 March: The city of temples Jammu today witnessed one of its historic moments wherein Film & media came together exploring the journey of a musician and an instrumentalist, from its folk roots to world-famous renown with the release of “Shiv Kumar Sharma: The Man & His Music” and unveiling of Antardhwani,~ documentary on the life & music of Pandir Shiv Kumar Sharma at Police Auditorium Gulshan ground Jammu.
His Excellency Sh. N N Vohra Governor Chief Guest on the occasion released the book in the presence of  Shantumanu Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Joint Director Tourism Ina Puri Editor of the book along with Padam Bhushan Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma. 
The event was organized by department of Tourism in collaboration with the Nirvana Academy A Regd Cultural Jammu.  
SHIV KUMAR SHARMA: THE MAN & HIS MUSIC edited by Ina Puri takes the reader on a journey to the life of the young boy who dared to dream that he would make his name among the greatest musicians of the country. It also   goes back to a time when the santoor maestro first started out as an adolescent learning the rudiments of Indian classical music under the guidance of his guru and father, Uma Dutt Sharma. Manek Premchand, a renowned film historian, writes about the maestro’s long innings as a music composer in the Hindi film industry & association with the legendary music directors of the day such as SD Burman and Naushad. The book is well presented as a hardback having a fascinating text with loads of photos rarely seen before.  

Ina Puri (An author, columnist, curator and documentarian )editor of the book in her interaction expressed views on her latest work on santoor Masetro. has been associated with the visual and performing arts, writing and curating exhibitions in India and abroad for over two decades. She has collaborated with Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma and published a memoir titled Journey with a Hundred Strings: My Life in
Music, which was later translated into other regional languages. She has also collaborated with Jabbar Patel on his biopic Antardhwani, which received the National Award, fetched the Rajat Kamal in 2009 in her credit.
Santoor Maestro before screenings of documentary shared his views with the audience about documentary .He said that It is important to make films like this which bring out the personality of a genre and the artiste and his instrument and help create awareness.

Antardhwani, ~ National Award Winning   Biographical documentary on life and works of santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma is directed by  Marathi playwright and filmmaker  Dr. Jabbar Patel was also screened on the occasion . It is based on art curator Ina Puri’s biography of the maestro, Journey With A Hundred Strings: My Life In Music.
The 70 minutes documentary is shot on location in Jammu &
Kashmir — Panditji’s birthplace — and Mumbai captures from his early initiation into the world of music, like the little-known fact of receiving early training in tabla and vocals. the talim given to him by his father Pt Uma Dutt Sharma and the trials and twists of fate that took him out of Kashmir and to grimy Mumbai. It was almost by chance that his father introduced him to the Santoor — a Kashmiri folk instrument largely used by Sufi musicians.
Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy said that today’s this is historic moment for the people of the city & screenings of documentary of legendary son of soil is first step towards our goal screening this documentary to all schools and colleges of the state as a source of inspiration and living example for future life of young in spirants.
The event concluded with a live interaction by Pandit ji with the audiences present on the occasion.

Nirvana academy honors young women achievers on the eve of International Women's Day (IWD)



Young Women Achiever Honored on the Eve of International Women Day

Jammu, 7 March: “Inspiring Change: Human Values & Equality for women” theme marked the celebration with full gusto and enthusiasm of International Women day 2014 thereby honoring the Young women achiever today at Auditorium GCW Parade.

The event was organized by Nirvana Academy A Regd. Cultural Club & Federation of Indian Blood Donor Organization in collaboration with Government Women College Parade.

Arunima Sinha Secretary IAS wife’s Association along with other members of association was Chief Guest & Dr Hemal aggarwal Principal of The collage was Guest of Honour on the occasion. R C Puri Secretary IRCS Jammu Suhail Kazami Sr Journalist , Vikrant Dogra Vice President FIBD & Ashutosh Bajaj Business head Bharti Infratel J& K circle were the other dignitaries present on the occasion.

65 Young women Achiever of the Jammu Region of J& K were honored on the occasion for their achievements in different fields under three group categories as Award for YWA, Certificate of Excellence & Honour & Certificate of appreciation.

Under Award Category the 15 Young women were Honoured for their achievement at National and International including Tanya Gupta (Music) Kusum Tikoo (Film, Tv & Entertainment) Ifra Mushtak Kak (Drama) Dr. Meena Sidhu (Medical) Deepika Singh Rajawat (Advocate & Socialist) Priya Dutta (Dance) Juhi Mohan ( RJ/VJ) , Mansi Gupta (Fashion & Lifestyle) Akhila Magotra ( Educationist) Aarti Mahajan (Heath & Fitness) Seharish Javed (Volunteer) & Shriya (Academics).

Among the Junior Young Achievers, the award was given to Vidhi Jaswal (Indian Idol Fame) & Saishte Mahajan President National award Winner 2012) on the occasion.

Sister Anath of Saint John rehabilitation centre was honored for rendering her selfless service for Mentally Retarded children. Apart from Ms Anu (a blind) presently pursuing Master in Music & Nidihi Chowdhary (Handicapped) pursuing his studies at College level were also honored on the Occasion under Differently abled category.

The younger women achiever certificate of excellence was awarded to Chakshu Kotwal, Urvashi Sharma, Sonali Dogra,Sonam Manhas, Akansha Gupta, Urja singh, Paramjeet Kour, Rajani Sharma, Rachna Sharma, Kamal Jeet Kour, Sweety Verma, Seema Sharma, Ansheeta Sasan, Asma Ayob, Ashima Sharma, Monica Sharma, Sanyukta Koul, Parul Sharma , Muskhan , Sonia Verma & Sunita Dogra.
Lauding organizers, Arunima Sinha Secatary while speaking on the occasion said cultural of marking such remarkable events will not only boost the morale of young women but also spread the message of importance of celebration of International women day. This day encourages advocacy for women's advancement everywhere in every way. It calls for challenging the status quo for women's equality and vigilance inspiring positive change.

Dr. Hemla Aggarwal Chief guest in her address said this day is an opportunity to appreciate the remarkable contribution of women to our society. Women now are more empowered and aware of their rights and the society has accepted their stand. The society is changing and paving way for the growth of the women. The changes can be seen in the fields of education, healthcare, equality and job opportunity creates a respectful workplace that supports the wellness and diverse.

Vikrant Dogra Vice President FIBD while speaking on the occasion congratulated women achiever on the eve of International Women Day. He said “Women Empowerment and issues related to saving the girl child can only be tackled once social-economic respect is given to all women at all levels which is their natural right. He added that for women related issues society has to lead by example then only it will be easier for governments to step in for next evolution of empowerment without basic respect and dignity for women their empowerment is still a distant dream. speaking on the occasion were Sh. R.C Puri Secretary Red Cross, Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy, Meenakshi Sharma Secretary Nirvana Academy, Umesh Sharma, Ashutosh Sharma, Varun Sharma HR Manager Bharti Infratel, Prof. Neeru Dalla and others.
The event also marked the Musical performances on the occasion where the young budding female artist of the city featuring Chakshu Kotwal, Urvashi Sharma, Nandni Kapoor Anu and others along with MYthya Band comprising of Goutam Kotwal (Vocal & leading Guitarist), Naveen Kotwal (Drumer) and Banu Partap Singh (Bassist) for a Extravaganza to raise awareness of the need for Human Values and equality among women.

Ifra Mustaq

For Ifra Mushtaq,  academic  pursuit  has  never  been  a means  of  livelihood nor was  it  a mere stepping stone  to  any  job;  instead she  has  always seen  it  as  an  ever widening &   self liberating path  leading to creative success with the whole­hearted support of her parents . 
She is The  first  woman  Theatre  Director  of  Jammu&Kashmir, to participate  in  twelve  (12)  major  workshops  in  the  field  of  theatre. She made J *& K Proud by being first women Theatre director of the state who represented state in NationalLevel Festival with her productions. Her production Do Kodi Ka Khel was awarded with five State academy awards. These days she is working on her new production “ Sordid tales of suffering “ a concept performance based on eupipede Trojan women. She had 15 days long workshop with the inmates of Kot Bhalwal Central Jail & become first girl of J & K to take that step.

Deepika Singh Rajawat

She is an activist have been focusing on non-registration of cases, illegal arrest and detention, domestic violence custodial cruelty, abusive treatment in jail, stagnant nature of trial, non-implementation of law related to children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law and need to Commission for the Protection of Child Rights in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Member, Juvenile Welfare Board, Jammu district created under section 4 of Juvenile Justice Act, 1997. 
Member, Juvenile Welfare Board for Rajouri district.  Fellow, Child Rights and You (CRY). PIL (Public Interest Litigation) in favour of Pakistani mentally challenged woman who was illegally detained in District Jail, Amphalla Jammu for more than 20 years.
PIL (Public Interest Litigation) to implement Jammu and Kashmir Juvenile Justice Act 1997.
