Nirvana Academy Organises Book Launch and Screening of Anterdwani at a Glittering Ceremony in the presence of Santoor Maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma

Jammu, 19 March: The city of temples Jammu today witnessed one of its historic moments wherein Film & media came together exploring the journey of a musician and an instrumentalist, from its folk roots to world-famous renown with the release of “Shiv Kumar Sharma: The Man & His Music” and unveiling of Antardhwani,~ documentary on the life & music of Pandir Shiv Kumar Sharma at Police Auditorium Gulshan ground Jammu.
His Excellency Sh. N N Vohra Governor Chief Guest on the occasion released the book in the presence of  Shantumanu Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Joint Director Tourism Ina Puri Editor of the book along with Padam Bhushan Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma. 
The event was organized by department of Tourism in collaboration with the Nirvana Academy A Regd Cultural Jammu.  
SHIV KUMAR SHARMA: THE MAN & HIS MUSIC edited by Ina Puri takes the reader on a journey to the life of the young boy who dared to dream that he would make his name among the greatest musicians of the country. It also   goes back to a time when the santoor maestro first started out as an adolescent learning the rudiments of Indian classical music under the guidance of his guru and father, Uma Dutt Sharma. Manek Premchand, a renowned film historian, writes about the maestro’s long innings as a music composer in the Hindi film industry & association with the legendary music directors of the day such as SD Burman and Naushad. The book is well presented as a hardback having a fascinating text with loads of photos rarely seen before.  

Ina Puri (An author, columnist, curator and documentarian )editor of the book in her interaction expressed views on her latest work on santoor Masetro. has been associated with the visual and performing arts, writing and curating exhibitions in India and abroad for over two decades. She has collaborated with Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma and published a memoir titled Journey with a Hundred Strings: My Life in
Music, which was later translated into other regional languages. She has also collaborated with Jabbar Patel on his biopic Antardhwani, which received the National Award, fetched the Rajat Kamal in 2009 in her credit.
Santoor Maestro before screenings of documentary shared his views with the audience about documentary .He said that It is important to make films like this which bring out the personality of a genre and the artiste and his instrument and help create awareness.

Antardhwani, ~ National Award Winning   Biographical documentary on life and works of santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma is directed by  Marathi playwright and filmmaker  Dr. Jabbar Patel was also screened on the occasion . It is based on art curator Ina Puri’s biography of the maestro, Journey With A Hundred Strings: My Life In Music.
The 70 minutes documentary is shot on location in Jammu &
Kashmir — Panditji’s birthplace — and Mumbai captures from his early initiation into the world of music, like the little-known fact of receiving early training in tabla and vocals. the talim given to him by his father Pt Uma Dutt Sharma and the trials and twists of fate that took him out of Kashmir and to grimy Mumbai. It was almost by chance that his father introduced him to the Santoor — a Kashmiri folk instrument largely used by Sufi musicians.
Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy said that today’s this is historic moment for the people of the city & screenings of documentary of legendary son of soil is first step towards our goal screening this documentary to all schools and colleges of the state as a source of inspiration and living example for future life of young in spirants.
The event concluded with a live interaction by Pandit ji with the audiences present on the occasion.
