Nirvana Academy organised Hindustani Classical Music Concert “Mangal Dhwani"

Jammu, 29 April: Nirvana Academy Cultural Club in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages on Tuesday organized a Hindustani Classical Music Concert “Mangal Dhwani” at K.L Saigal Hall, Jammu. Sh. R.C Puri Secretary Indian Red Cross Society Jammu region was the chief guest on the occasion while Sh. Krishan Lal Verma Retd. HOD fine Arts College was the guest of honour on the occasion. Programme started with the welcome note addressed by Dr. Sudhir Mahajan followed by Hindustani classical music recital by Rakesh Kalotra.

Classical music lovers of Jammu city were feted to mesmerizing
performance of most promising youngster Rakesh Kalotra who commenced his recital with Badha Khayal in raag Madhuwanti “Suniye nath gareeb nawaz” followed by chota khayal “Unhi so mori lagan lagi re”. He also recited “Batoon batoon mei beet gyi raat” a thumri in Mishr Pahari raag and he concluded with “Koi kahiyo re prabhu bhavan ki maan bhavan ki” a bhajan in raag Bharaavi.

Rakesh Kalotra is the most promising young Hindustani Classical singer from Arneia R.S Pura Jammu who is earlier disciple of P.K Zalali and Sunayna Koul. He presently commenced his training from Ojesh Partap who is disciple of Padam Bushan Pt. Ulhas Karhalkar of Gwalior gharana.

Neeraj Verma accompanied Rakesh on tabla. Neeraj Verma a
noted tabla player is disciple of K.L Verma and also trained by Yogesh Samsi of Ustad Allah Rakha Khan Gharana. Crispness and clarity of his technique and a total command of rhythm are the classic hallmarks of his styles.

Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy thanked J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for their kind support to make this event a success. He appreciated the vocalist Rakesh Kalotra and said that he is credited with attracting the young generation towards Indian classical music by his magical voice.

Mukesh Kumar accompanied on tanpura and Maninder Sharma on Harmonium.

Nirvana Academy organised Talent Search Programme at N.S.K High School, Channi Himmat Jammu

Jammu, 26 April: A Talent Search Programme was jointly organised by Nirvana Academy, Aarohi Kala Sangeet Vidhalya along with Sawera NGO at NSK High School, Channi Himaat Jammu. Sh. Ram Gopal Sharma Chairman School Management Committee chaired the programme while Sh. Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy along with Sh. Kuldeep Kumar Director Aarohi Kala Sangeet Vidhalya was the special guest on the occasion.

A multi cultural programme was presented on the occasion in which debate competition and music competition were organised. Programme started with a dance performance presented by the girls student of the school which was highly applauded by the guest and children followed by debate competition on topic “India renaissance”. 

Ram Devi sung a bhajan “ Kon Kehte hain ke bhagwan aate nahi” which was highly appreciated by the children and the guests followed by melodious old songs sung by the participants of the music competition.
Sh. Ram Gopal Sharma told on the occasion that Sawera organization is running this school for the welfare and better education for the children coming from slums and below poverty line families. He added that these kinds of activities encouraged these children and helps them to compete with the other children.

Sh. Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy appreciated the talent of the children and promised school management that in future, Nirvana Academy will organize more cultural activities along with music and dance workshops for school children.

Sh. Kuldeep Kumar gave a musical presentation in which he gave valuable musical tips to the participants. 
Sh. S.K Abrol Principal of the school presented vote of thanks. He thanked Nirvana Academy and Aarohi Kala Sangeet Vidhalaya for their valuable support. He also thanked school Management and school staff in arranging such beautiful event.
In Debate competition Miss Dropati won 1st prize, Pooja bagged 2nd prize and Umesh got 3rd prize respectively and Miss Ram Devi got 1st prize while Reetu won 2nd prize and Kushboo Raj bagged 3rd prize in music competition.
Participants were Dropati, Pooja, Umesh, Ajay, Ram Devi, Reetu, Kushboo Raj, Raj Kumari, Roshni Rajak, Sikha, Kranti, Drupti, Neha, Arti, Jyoti and Pooja. Arush Gupta, Amit Bhawra and Paranv Sharma accompanied on Guitar and percussions.

Nirvana academy celebrates World earth day 2014

Jammu, 22 April 2014:
To celebrate the World Earth Day 2014 and spread the message of this year’s theme – “Green Cities” – an impressive awareness event was organized on 22nd April, 2014, at  Central Park Bahu Plaza Jammu by J & K State Pollution Control Board in collaboration with Nirvana Academy - a cultural club and Mindscape Environmental & Educational Trust. Diverse activities related to the Art work/ poster making/ painting competition were carried out among professional, amateur and budding artist.
Sh. Vinod Ranjan IFS, Chairman, J&K  State Pollution Control Board Jammu was the Chief Guest and Sh. Shantmanu Divisional Commissioner Jammu was the Guest of Honor on the occasion.  Smt. Shushma Chouhan Vice Chairman JDA was the special guest on the occasion along with Sh. R C Puri, Secretary Indian Red Cross Jammu Region.
The awareness event comprised of  two events namely “Green Cities – Exploring a Thought on the Canvas to support Mother Earth” in which over 15 budding artists Ankit Sudan, Narinder Kumar, Anjali Bharti, Vikas Sharma, Nimisha Dubey, Harshika Nargotra, Kamaljeet Kour, Mahua Gupta, Neha Sharma, Marvi Sharma, Risha Chib, Kanchan Ballowria, Rigzin Palzor hailing from Poonch, Udhampur Hiranagar , Kathua and Samba  participated and displayed their innovative thoughts to support  the theme - Green Cities.
100 students from different schools and Art Schools participated in a painting competition under four different categories to show their support and spirit for the mother earth. The thoughts painted by them came up with convincing solutions to the issues.   The paintings depicted mitigative actions and sustainable solutions  in making the earth a livable place. Painting Competition was adjudged by Sh. Ankush Kesar and Sh. Rohit Verma, artists of national eminence.
The Highlight of the World Earth Day Campaign was the participation of Sh. Chander  Shakher renowned Cartoonist along with Sh. Jaswal and Sh K.K Gandhi renowned artist who explored their creative ideas and took a pledge to make Earth a better place to live. Their presentations primarily stressed the important role of diverse plant species, which can sustain Earth's natural resources for the future of urban cities.
A number of people visited the event site and appreciated the concept of on spot artwork combined with the message of Green Cities on World Earth Day.
Sh. Vinod Ranjan, IFS, Chairman, J&K SPCB, Chief Guest on the occasion said that the objective of celebrating such events with specific  themes is to raise awareness, both on the potential for increased co-operation and on the challenges facing our cities due to depleting forest cover, polluted rivers, unsafe drinking water,  high levels of pollutants in the air, waste disposal. He  appealed to all the citizens to keep Jammu Clean and Green.  He further said that the onus lies on each one of us to make that difference.
Sh. Vinod Ranjan, Sh, Shantmanu and Smt. Sushma Chauhan interacted with the artist and appreciated their work on canvas. All the young artists were honored with an Award  along with a certificate of participation for their support on this day.
Present on the occasion were Sh. Arun Tikku, Member Secretary, SPCB, Sh. Sajjad Mufti, Regional Director, SPCB, Ms. Neelu Sharma, Principal Scientific Officer, SPCB, other officers and officials of the Board.
The programme was conducted by Ms. Akhila Magotra and Miss Bushra Hasan Educationist & Entrepreneur.  She talked about the importance of this day and about the purpose of organizing the World Earth Day with the innovative thought by the organizers, supported by various organisations and volunteers.

Nirvana Academy pays musical tribute to legendry K.L Saigal on his 110th birth anniversary



Jammu, April 11: Nirvana Academy a regd. Cultural club organized a musical programme in memory of legendry singer Kundan Lal Saigal on his 110th birth anniversary at Aarohi kala Sangeet Vidhalya, Jammu. In a musical programme children and artists sung popular songs and bhajans of K.L Saigal. 
Meenakshi Sharma General Secretary Nirvana academy threw light on the life of K.L Saigal. Saigal was born at Jammu on 11th April 1904. In a carrier of fifteen years Saigal sang 185 songs which included 142 filmi and 43 non filmi songs, she added
Meenakshi said that Saigal’s distinctive singing voice was idolized by the first generation of post independence Hindi play
back singers including Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh and Kishore Kumar. Saigal also known as first Indian bollywood Singer and filmstar.
Kuldeep Kumar a noted singer and students of Aarohi Kala Sangeet Vidhalya presented popular songs of K.L Saigal like “jab dil hi toot gaya”, “tere dwaare khada bhagwan”, which were highly applauded by the audience.

that from last three years, Nirvana Academy is organizing musical programmes to pay tribute to legendry singers of the state and national eminence. Club shall promote the music of K.L Saigal among the young generation and also organized more programmes to promote the legacy of son of soil K.L Saigal, Badyal added.
Others presented on the occasion were Neeraj Sharma, Nishant Vaid, Amit Sharma, Shammi, Ashutosh, Shaveta Sharma, Paramjeet kour, Kunwar and Haripriya.

Nirvana Academy Celebrated World Autism Awareness week with Special Inmates at Home for Mentally retarted Children, Channi Rama, Jammu.

JAMMU, 6 APRIL 2014: Autism awareness  week was celebrated  today with  “ Light It Up Blue “ campaign  Celebrating the colors of life with the aim to draw attention to individuals and families living with autism on a daily basis, at Home for Mentally retarded, Channi Rama  Jammu.
The event was organized by Nirvana academy and Disabled Care Foundation in association with Indian Red Cross society, Jammu Region with the support of Prayas, Little Millennium Play Way School, KC Biscuits and Aarohi Kala Sangeet Vidhalya along with the eminent members of civil society who are working for the cause.  
The celebration with the children of the home was based on the theme of the campaign including Blue balloons, cupcakes, cookies and all things blue.  During the celebration the cake was cut by the specially abled children along with Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sh. Shantmanu Sinha apart from the musical program presented by Kuldeep Kumar and his group   .The Kids  of the home  also  shared  the dais along with persons joined for the  occasion . They sang, danced, and played games with a joy and enthusiasm.

Day to raise awareness and offer our support to those affected by it.” Div Com said on the occasion. During their stay they also interacted with children of home and visiting parents.
