JAMMU, 6 APRIL 2014: Autism awareness week was celebrated today with “ Light It Up Blue “ campaign Celebrating the colors of life with the aim to draw attention to individuals and families living with autism on a daily basis, at Home for Mentally retarded, Channi Rama Jammu.
The event was organized by Nirvana academy and Disabled Care Foundation in association with Indian Red Cross society, Jammu Region with the support of Prayas, Little Millennium Play Way School, KC Biscuits and Aarohi Kala Sangeet Vidhalya along with the eminent members of civil society who are working for the cause.
The celebration with the children of the home was based on the theme of the campaign including Blue balloons, cupcakes, cookies and all things blue. During the celebration the cake was cut by the specially abled children along with Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sh. Shantmanu Sinha apart from the musical program presented by Kuldeep Kumar and his group .The Kids of the home also shared the dais along with persons joined for the occasion . They sang, danced, and played games with a joy and enthusiasm.

"I was delighted to visit the service and show my support to children with Autism. . We are getting involved in World Autism
Day to raise awareness and offer our support to those affected by it.” Div Com said on the occasion. During their stay they also interacted with children of home and visiting parents.
Prominent among others who were present on the occasion include Akhila Magotra CEO Little Millenium, Prof Neeru Dhalla, Rajesh Dhalla , Umesh Sharma from KC Biscuits, Aarti Mahajan , Meenakshi Sharma General Secretary Nirvana academy and Nishant Vaid Publicity Secretary of the academy.
