In connection with the concluding of the 20-day-long summer theatre workshop, the Nirvana Academy, a regd. Cultural club organised a function at Pammy Art Academy, Sanjay nagar Jammu.
More than 15 participants from different parts of Jammu got an opportunity to know about the cultural heritage through the basic training of the theatre. This theatre training programme was designed to make participants aware of their talent and abilities with the help of experts’ training. The workshop was a wholesome supplement for the personality development and self enhancement of the participants with the help of the latest developed techniques in theatre and other art forms.
Meenakshi Sharma, General Secretary Nirvana Academy said the aim of organising these workshops was to motivate the youth towards the eminent and rich tradition, culture and values through the medium of theatre and performing arts.
On the last day of the workshop, a short play, “Jootha Nawab’, prepared by participants, was staged, which was highly appreciated by the guest and the audience as well.
The workshop was conducted by Tarun Sharma, a young theatre Director/Actor who has sufficient experience of doing theatre with freshers.
Tarun Sharma told on the occasion that this Theatre Workshop was organised for everybody - from fresher to students, serious actors and acting students. Participants learned the basics of stagecraft and acting, learn something new and unique they can use in any aspect of their life, meet like-minded people and bring out the creative side in them. This workshop started from essentials of story-development, playwriting, stage-management, design and direction and move on to focus on the actor in participants. Apart from acting, the workshop offered a rich mix of outdoor theatre activities, readings, analysis, discussions and performances, he added.
Participants who participated in the play were Nikhil Sharma, Paramjeet Kour Pammy, Sameer Bhatti, Vikas Jasrotia, Shubam Singh, Gulshan Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Rohit Sharma, Sourav Sharma and Vikram. The workshop was coordinated by Nishant Vaid.
