8 FEB. 2015: A rich musical Tribute was paid on 74th Birth Anniversary of legendry King of Ghazals Jagjit Singh titled “Yaddein Jagjit Ki" celebrating it as “Ghazal Day" today at auditorium Red Cross Bhawan Jammu. A large number of Jagjit Fans along with musical lovers witness the programme.
The event was Organised by Nirvana academy and Jagjit Fan Club Jammu in collaboration with Indian red Cross society Jammu region and was supported by the Mindscape Educational & Environmental trust along with Little Millennium a chain of play way schools and Darpan Beauty parlour.
Sh Sameer Bharti IFS Chief Conservator of Forest was Chief Guest while Ms Anjali Sharma Director Doordarshan Jammu and Sh Ravi Puri secetaary IRCS Guest of Honour on the occasion. Mr Pradeep Dutta from Times now, Mr. Jyoti Pachananda from sahara Samay, Mr. Sohail Kazmi Senior journalist, Mr. vikrant Dogra Vice Chairman FIDBO, Sh. Vikul Gupta chairman Aarivan group were the special guest and Mohd. Aslam qureshi Retd. IAS presided over the function.
Hemu Karki Charperson Jagjit Fan Club in her welcome address extended warm welcome to Ghazal Singer along with all present on the occasion. She said we all fans of Jagjit Singh want show solidarity with Chitra Singh, who is fighting a lone battle to get her husband and late ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh the Bharat Ratna. She said every year the birth anniversary of legand will be celebrated as Ghazal day should be declared as National Ghazal day by Government of India.
The ghazal evening was comprised of Neelam and subash Langeh nationally aclaimed Ghazal Duo of the state along with Dr. Kewal sanmotra “Waahid” noted writer, singer and composer of the town. Nandani kapoor and Manjit Singh young singers of the town also presented ghazals on the occasion.
The programme started with a ghazal “Tum ko dekha toh yeh khayal aaya” by Dr Kewal Sanmotra followed by some old age magical Ghazal of Jagjit & Chitra Roy By Neelam & subash sanmotra namely ” tu nahi tih zindgi mei aur kya reh jaiga" "Chitthi na koi sandesh" followed by "Yeh tera ghar yeh mera ghar" recreating the aura of legendary Husband & wife.
Dr Ashik raza a noted social activist and jagjit Fan club member also presented a paper presentation on the occasion throwing a vast knowledge on life an work of Jagjit Singh.
Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy presented votes of thanks. He thanked Subash & Neelam langeh along with Dr kewal Samnotra “Waahid” for coming forward and supporting the cause making this day possible.The programme was compared by Manjeet. The artists who gave accompany included Dr Vikas Nagar on Guitar, Vicky Gill on synthesizer and Vijay verma on Tabla.
