29April 2016: To reiterate the relationship between dancers and their art, Nirvana Academy a registered cultural club today celebrated the dance day which was supported by the International Dance Council of UNESCO at Auditorium of Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawani Jammu.
This Special day is all about the history of dance and the recognisation of its place in the society.
President Nirvana Academy on the occasion read the official message for dance day 2016 given by Alkis Raftis, President of the International dance council CID, UNESCO Paris that “Dance day 2016 is dedicated to maintaining an open doors policy in teaching dance”.
It is to mention that International Dance Day was introduced in 1982 by the International Dance Council CID (Counseil International de la Danse), a UNESCO partner NGO, and is celebrated on April 29 every year the day when a French dancer and balletmaster Jean-Georges Noverre was born.
A special lecture on the importance of dance among the participants was delivered by Chief Guest Sh R.C Puri, Secretary IRCS Jammu Region.
Today, Audience witnessed dance forms from the various skilled and professional young dancers from different institutes of the city. Spectators were left spell bound with the performances and gave a standing ovation. Noted folk dance performer and choreographer J.R Sharma was felicitated on the occasion for his contributions in the field of dance.
A Seminar was also organized on the occasion in which choreographers and dance instructors like JR Sharma, Sunil Sharma, Raj Shavtora, Vikas, Amit Kumar, Smiley Tanuja, Goldy Kalotra, Sanjeev Magtora, Anu Bhardwaj, Gurvinder Kaur took part.
