JAMMU, June 14: Nirvana Academy a cultural club organized folk festival of Duggar, “Rut Raade” at Shakti Nagar, where the “Raade” were planted and decorated. Songs related to `Rut Raade’ festival were also sung by the females and folk artists.
Aim of the programme is to aware the new generation about the folk festivals, culture and traditions of Dogra culture. Women and children from diffrent walks of life took part in the programme.They sung geetru and many regional dogri songs on the occasion. A get to gather was also organised in which ladies and children shared home made Dogra food.
President Nirvana Academy, Santosh Sharma while extending gratitude appreciated the performance of females participated in rangoli and folk song programmes. She further said that this type of festivals helps us to know more about our culture and tradition adding that it also aware the new generation about our history of Duggar culture. She mentioned that people from all walk of society come forward to promote and celebrate these festival to preserve the tradition.
She also thanked Rohit Sharma Organising Secretary for the success of the festival and advised him to organise more cultural dogra festival in future.
This folk festival of Duggar is celebrated throughout Jammu region. It starts from Ist day of Aashad & culminates on 1st day of Sharavan of the Bikrami Samvat. This year the festival started on June 14, with the sowing of Kharief seeds in the pitcher necks which are inserted into the ground and beautifully decorated with natural dry colours.
Prominent among the others were Meenakshi Sharma General Secretary NA, Shaveta Badyal Cashier NA, Darshna Devi, Rita Sharma, Seema Angotra, Rajesh Balla and children who participated were Amiksha Angotra, Manya Angotra, Sehaj Verma, Aaradhya Verma.
