'Raahde' festival concludes at Billawar

Billawar, 16 July: A month long activity 'Raahde'  culminates at village Gujjru Nagrota, Billawar, here today. Nirvana Academy a registered cultural club today organized a demonstration programme of Raahde in which young girls, ladies and children participated.


Rohit Sharma Chief organiser Billawar said that the programme has been organised to make aware the youth and children about the rich culture and heritage of Jammu region.

Krishna Devi, a local from the village highlighted the importance of 'Raahde' festival in Dogra culture. She explained that Raadhe festival is a month long activity starts on Ashaad and culminates on first of Sharwan 'Sankranti' every year.

newly wedded women, young girls sow kharif seeds in the terracotta of pitcher necks. They also decorate Raahde with natural colours in the shape of Rangoli.

Krishna Devi, Radha Devi, Renu Sharma, Sapna and Suman also presented Dogra folk song related to the festival and participants have feast together.
